The history.

The all-wheel drive Porsche may be a common sight today, but turning the clock back reveals the 911 first had its front wheels driven in 1989, a variant of the 964 called the Carrera 4. The 964 Carrera 4 marked the first use of a planetary center differential to provide all-wheel drive in a 911, though its overall design differed little from the rear-wheel drive Carrera 2. Porsche continued this modest, evolutionary approach with the 993 Carrera 4 in 1994.

However, Porsche did eventually venture into more aggressive all-wheel drive 911 territory with the 996 Carrera 4S in 2002. Dubbed the "C4S" by those in the know, this model featured a wider body compared to the standard 996, as well as Turbo-inspired exterior styling, though it lacked the air vents of the range-topping Turbo variant. Today, the 996 C4S has aged incredibly well with collectors and driving enthusiasts applauding their analog soul, drivability in a wide variety of settings, and their aggressive yet simplistic design. A true 911 sports car before they became the grand touring cars of today.

This addition of sporty C4S variants was also extended to the convertible line, where users could enjoy the enhanced characteristics of the C4S while also enjoying the open air benefits that came with a convertible top. Generally people would scoff at a convertible 911 but this generation only added 181lbs, and is maybe the first well-performing convertible 911.

THE CAR.

Chassis # WP0CB29986S769590

The 2006 Porsche 911 C4S Cabriolet presented here is finished in its original Arctic Silver Metallic paint over black leather with just 14,800 miles and a clean CARFAX. This example has plenty of desirable options like Bose sound system, heated seats, seat belts in silver, Porsche crest stamped headrests, and 19” Carrera Classic wheels.

Originally titled in Las Vegas, Nevada this example only gained roughly 2,000 miles before moving to Texas and then Illinois with the same owner. Over these years it gained the majority of its mileage with this owner before changing hands with its next owner in 2013 right around 11,500 miles. The next owner held onto the car for the next 6 years driving it sparingly and regularly maintaining it at Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, Illinois. From here, in 2019, the car traveled to Wisconsin with its 3rd owner where it gained under 1,000 miles.

Today, the car has just 14,816 miles which is shockingly low for a variant of the 911 that typically sees a good amount of use. It is reported that roughly 12,000 miles C4S Cabriolets were built, and you would be extremely hard pressed to find an example showing this low of mileage.

Included in the sale are the manuals, clean CARFAX,  recent service records, and the factory wind deflector.
