The history.
The all-wheel drive Porsche may be a common sight today, but turning the clock back reveals the 911 first had its front wheels driven in 1989, a variant of the 964 called the Carrera 4. The 964 Carrera 4 marked the first use of a planetary center differential to provide all-wheel drive in a 911, though its overall design differed little from the rear-wheel drive Carrera 2. Porsche continued this modest, evolutionary approach with the 993 Carrera 4 in 1994.
However, Porsche did eventually venture into more aggressive all-wheel drive 911 territory with the 996 Carrera 4S in 2002. Dubbed the "C4S" by those in the know, this model featured a wider body compared to the standard 996, as well as Turbo-inspired exterior styling, though it lacked the air vents of the range-topping Turbo variant. Today, the 996 C4S has aged incredibly well with collectors and driving enthusiasts applauding their analog soul, drivability in a wide variety of settings, and their aggressive yet simplistic design. A true 911 sports car before they became the grand touring cars of today.

THE CAR.
Chassis # WP0AA29953S622312
The 2003 Porsche 911 C4S presented here, VIN # WP0AA29953S622312 is finished in Guards Red over Black with 48,015 miles and clean Carfax. It was ordered with plenty of desirable options such as heated seats, Bose high end sound package, full leather front and rear, black mats with Porsche lettering, xenon headlamps, aluminum instrument dials, leather and aluminum shifter and handbrake, and exterior paint matched center tunnel. Originally delivered to Byers Imports, of Columbus, Ohio, this C4S was enjoyed by its first owner for about 8,000 miles, receiving just routine oil changes until being sold to a second owner in 2007.
For the next 4 owners and roughly 32,000 miles the car split its time in Ohio and Indiana for a majority of this time while receiving routine maintenance items and consumables such as oil changes, brakes and tires. In 2020 the C4S found its way to New York with roughly 39,000 miles before a brief stint in Missouri and Wisconsin bringing us to the present day. This C4S presents as a car with half the mileage than it truly has with minimal flaws to note.
As it sits today, this C4S resides in sunny south Florida and presents an opportunity to obtain a fantastic driver-quality example of one of Porsche’s most usable 996 packages. Included in the sale are the factory manuals and books, spare tire, tire pump, full tool set, clean Carfax, and spare key.
