The history.

The original RS offerings, such as the limited-run Carrera RS 2.7 and RS 3.0 from 1973-1975, proved immensely popular with enthusiasts seeking a more track-focused alternative to the standard 911.

The RS nameplate was revived in 1992 with the introduction of the 964-generation Carrera RS for European and international markets. Unfortunately, US buyers received a more watered-down version in the form of the RS America. However, the new 964 RS drew heavily from the 964 Carrera Cup race cars, featuring a 260-hp air-cooled flat-six, a close-ratio G50 transmission, a lightweight magnesium wheel set, and a track-tuned suspension. Interior amenities were stripped out to further reduce weight. In total, Porsche built 2,276 examples of the 964 Carrera RS, including 1,910 "basic" lightweight versions, 76 "touring" models with some creature comforts, and 290 "sport" N/GT variants intended for racing. The 964 Carrera RS was a triumphant reintroduction of the iconic RS line, capturing the spirit of the original 1970s models in a thoroughly modern package.

THE CAR.

Chassis # WP0ZZZ96ZNS491213

This example Chassis No. WP0ZZZ96ZNS491213, is a lightweight or basic version and is 1 of just 1,910 examples produced. A German market delivered car when new, it is finished in its original colors of Polar Silver Metallic (92E) with a black and gray leather interior with sport bucket seats. Currently the odometer reads 111,653 kilometers (69,377 miles) which are believed to be original.

This example has had a thorough photo documented restoration that was done to a high standard, which can be viewed in the file. It additionally benefits from a blueprinted and balanced engine rebuild that also included bigger cams in June of 2002 totaling 10,651.34 Euros.

According to its original service book it documents this Carrera RS as originally belonging to Hans Jurgen Nieke residing in Lörrach, Germany and a Fahrzeugbrief from June of 2002 still shows him as the owner. The service book shows the second owner as Alexander Karl Stahl from Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany and a later Fahrzeugbrief shows it belonging to him still in 2013 with it later being sold to Juan Alfonso Gonzales Diaz in Santillana del Mar, Spain in 2015.

It was then purchased by the current owner, a substantial Porsche enthusiast and collector, in 2023 and imported into the US. Since then it has remained in his expansive Porsche focused collection and has been kept in climate controlled storage and only used sparingly.

Our visit to the collection and our inspection of the vehicle discovered that the restoration still remains in excellent condition. What is even better though is the driving impression of the RS and Keith Koscak, Co-Founder, stated that “it is the best 964 Carrera RS he's ever driven” adding that “it pulls hard through the gears and the whole car just feels really nice and tight. It sounds amazing with the bigger cams and aftermarket exhaust, and creates a wonderful and visceral driving experience.”

Documentation includes an old German Fahrzeugbrief from 2002 as well as 2015, its original service book showing substantial services from 1992-2013, receipts from the engine rebuild in 2002, and photos documenting the substantial restoration as well as photos of all the factory stampings on the Carrera RS.

A well cared for example and while not a perfect original example, it certainly presents very nicely cosmetically and even better mechanically, making it a great addition to any collection or for any enthusiast looking to go out and enjoy one of Porsche’s greatest creations.
